Gift ArticleSoothing Work Music Listening to music whilst you work can be very productive as it gets you in the right frame of mind. But it can also prove counter productive if you listen to the wrong kind of music. Let me explain, if you have classical music playing in the background it could send some people to sleep if they are not classical fans. Also music with lyrics can have people concentrating so much on the lyrics that they forget about the job they are doing. With that in mind I have a list of music that I feel comfortable listening to when I am working. I will start off with a band by the name of Ratatat. The music that the band plays is quite similar all the way through the album so it can just play away in the background while you carry on working. Their latest album is very good indeed if you like music that has an upbeat electronic feel to it. If you do then it is called DeadMau5 which when you try to say it is called dead mouse. The next band does have some lyrics with their music but they are very sparse so you should not feel the need to over concentrate on them and get distracted from your job. This bad goes by the name of LCD soundsystem. If I have to work late or sometimes if I have just finished after a long day I like to calm down by listening to Broken Social scene. Their music has a very relaxing instrumental beat to it. Another album I listen too which took me by surprise was the Drake album. This is a quite laid back sound too which I really like. If you like something with a little bit more culture to it then I thoroughly recommend Amadou and Miriam's "welcome to Mali". Now the lyrics may be in Swahili but this album and music really is good listening to and as you cannot understand what they are singing you can still concentrate on your work.
